    PC turns 25 Years Old

    PC Turns 25 Years Old

Wow, it's ONLY been 25 years with this technology and look where we are today. I remember my first computer was a Packard Bell running Windows 3.1.

    What was your first computer?

My first one was an Amstrad 512k with 2 x 5 1/4 floppy drives and CGA Monitor.

I think CPU was a 8086 at 8MHz and it had the DOS 3.0

    Awsome at that time Smile

Commodore 64 was the earliest computer I remember having at home.  My father started working for Epson computers when I was but a 8 years old I think.  Obviously there after we had a lot of epson computers... when epson still made computers.  I remember when my father bought me a computer... I think I was probably 10th grade which puts me about 16 years old?  It had a CD-ROM which I thought was crazy!  386 running Windows 3.1, 250mb hard drive, 28K modem that I upgraded to 56K.  Big Smile  I remember there was an instruction list that came with the computer that instructed you how to reload the software/drivers, and in what order to load them, in the event you had to restore your system.  They weren't advanced enough to have a recovery disc or anything like that.

alas one day there was an electrical problem and that computer literally started smoking signalling it's end.  Stick out tongue

Turbo Mode! I remember that! I wonder if that's how the "Overclocking" trend started.

Althought a bad implementation at that time.  It was quite stable and did not hung unlike some others boards, just wish it would keep the correct time.

I also changed the 8088 processor to a NEC V20.
